The first thing that needs to be considered is the inputs and cables which will be connecting the television and other electronic equipment such as Blu-ray players, DVD players, amps and speakers.  Most people set up there audio visual equipment using and assortment of cables that use yellow, red and white for composite video and audio.  This provides the lowest quality signal and in many cases does not support HD.  For the best pictures on a high definition TV it is a good idea to invest a little money into the cables that you use and look for cables that support HDMI which will provide a high quality digital connection.

When setting up the television for the first time it is important to adjust the picture to suit the conditions that are present in the room.  Most televisions need to be adjusted from the default factory settings and this can be done through the televisions menu.  High definition TVs allow you to adjust things such as contrast, picture sharpness as well as brightness.  For a more professional adjustment you can also purchase an inexpensive calibration disc which can help you set the best picture for your television.

When setting up a new HD TV it is easy to forget about the sound as much of the focus with these televisions is on the great picture quality.   Adding a set of speakers and a good subwoofer can be done at a reasonable price and this can make a huge difference when it comes to watching things such as movies and content that is in high definition.  When buying speakers you generally get what you pay for however you don’t need to spend a huge amount of money to get a great sound to go with the high definition picture.
